Baia do Sancho beach
Brazil destinations: Fernando do Noronha
I spent a week on vacation in Fernando de Noronha and found it a delight. This
was the third time I visited the island, I never get tired of it. To facilitate the
the tours, we rented a buggy.
One of the places I liked the most the natural pool of Morro São José (4), which has transparent water. The access is via a trail that takes
a half hour trail, and to get there it is important to keep an eye on the tide, which needs to be low.
We also went to the Morro Dois Irmãos lookout (5),
one of the main postcards of the island and a great place to take pictures.
The good thing is that afterwards you just have to go down and enjoy Sancho Bay beach (1).
Going snorkeling there is a delight, you can see fish
fish, turtles and rays. The place is perfect for those who, like me, love sunbathing and staying in the sea.
The island archipelago of Fernando do Noronha
has so many spectacular beaches, it'shard to single out just one. The beach Praia do
Leão offers wild crashing surf and sea turtle hatchings in season. The most
gorgeously secluded is Praia da Baía do Sancho, a crescent of red sand on
shimmering clear blue water that can only be reached by clambering down
a rickety iron ladder through a chasm in the cliff side.
Attractions
The main island is 15km long and its principal feature is the huge Morro do Pico
rock which rises impossibly from the green landscape. The 70% of the archipelago is a
National Marine Park, generally accepted as one of the most untouched and unique marine
systems in the world. The island is ringed by a
variety of lovely and deserted beaches, the calmest of which are on the leeward side. There
are many sites of interest on land, but a unique
feature of the island is the presence of spinner dolphins (stenella longinostris), around 1,200
of which congregate nearly every morning in Golfinho Bay and whose aerial displays are a
delight to watch.
Noronha is a paradise for divers of all standards, with an average
temperature of 26°C and visibility up to 50m.
Sea turtles, dolphins and even the occasional shark can be seen in addition to a wonderful
display of tropical fish.
Pousadas (none of which are actually on the beach) can be
booked up months in advance, particularly during holiday periods (July, August, Christmas,
Easter and Carnival).
Another nice beach is Conceição beach (3), which has bars and hammocks bars and a footvolley net. Getting there is very simple,
you can walk from the center. At the end of the day, we had drinks and snacks at the restaurant Mergulhão,
which is located at the Fernando de Noronha harbor. As a bonus, we had this incredible view of the sunset (2). No
I can't wait to go back to Noronha, maybe for the next New Year's Eve!
Buraco do Galego, Fernando de Noronha
Buraco do Galego is located at Cachorro beach, in Vila dos Remédios. It is the most urban beach in Fernando de Noronha.
After going down the stairs, you will see, on the right, a crack, which is where the hole is. If the tide is low, you will notice some people jumping from up there.
This tip is very important. Only go to the Buraco do Galego if the tide is low. There is no point in trying to go when the tide is high for two reasons:
1. it is dangerous and you may get hurt, and 2. the sea waves will not make your photo look good.
Fernando de Noronha nightlife
Bar do Cachorro is the place to go for forró dance on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11pm, samba Saturdays at 11pm and O Pico Noronha has a famous samba on Sundays, like 9pm!
O Pico is also a great place not only to party,
but also to shop. There are fashion and art finds, and also a restaurant that serves ceviche
Internet in Noronha
Well, this is a chapter apart! Remember thay you are in an island too far away from South America continent.
Just to land on the island the 3G is already gone and even the wi-fi in the places is very bad.
I found out that there is a right time to post: early in the morning, between 6am and 9am,
time for breakfast and late at night, after dinner. And only at the reception of the inn, because the main
internet router was near, always stay near the router to best connection.

The main attractions of the island and the city are definitely the beaches. Here's what we saw and what attracted us the most:

Restaurants - where to eat
Every restaurant was delicious! But let's go to the highlights: The restaurant
Mergulhão has the best sunset view and a perfect lounge to drink a white wine, eat some snacks and admire nature.
The coalho cheese with honey there is a must!
The restaurant Varanda ($$) is also 10 and Auri Romão, the chef and owner, is a great guy. Don't miss the paella there and the white brownie for dessert.
Restaurant Zé Maria Gastronomic Festival
And what about the Zé Maria Gastronomic Festival ($$$) ?
Every Wednesday and Saturday the tourists in Noronha meet at the inn's restaurant to stuff themselves in the traditional banquet
(there's everything, I didn't know where to start!) and take pictures with him. this is the Noronha must-go version. It's really worth it,
the atmosphere is great and the food is very good.
Price: R$153 per person (brazilian real currency)
Diving
Fernando de Noronha is a great place for water sports. Due to its North-South geographical position, the island presents, at the same time, perfect places for diving, surfing and fishing.
Diving in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil, is considered by several specialized magazines as one of the best dives in the world, due to its calm and clear sea waters, its rich and well preserved marine fauna and its wrecks. For all these reasons, we believe that at least once in your life,
