Famous brazilian singers: Maria Creuza
Very remembered to interpret big successes of the bossa nova like "Você Abusou", "Samba em Prelude" and "Garota of Ipanema", the Brazilian singer María Creuza turns in 2012 forty two years of career.
He/she was born in a town of Bay, and he/she began in the professional music of the hand of a "godfather" deluxe: the poet and composer Vinicius of Moraes.
In last month of March it visited the Argentina again to remember the successes of their repertoire and to be rediscovered with their fans that accompany her from their beginnings.
When and how was their first approach given to the music?
My beginning was in Bay, Brazil, my earth; I was born in Bay, in a town call Esplanade. Of very small I left with my parents of that place and never more we return. I began studying to be an actress and later he/she gave me an opportunity the local television: there I made a test and I won the first place, and the things headed toward the song. Then, in the years ´70, they invited me to a festival in River of Janeiro which provided many artistic possibilities. In this festival he/she saw me the artist Vinicius of Moraes and he/she invited me to work with him. There I was defined as singer. It was as playing the sky with the hands.
I have recorded very much, I have recorded Vinicius of Moraes with several co-authors, with several poets that it is what I seek, to sing and to continue singing those topics that are the best in the Brazilian music for me.
What place did the artist occupy Vinicius of Moraes in her career?
Vinicius of Moraes was my relating one, my artistic godfather and also my godfather because he/she baptized my daughter. The person that shook hands me was and she helped me in all the circumstances that I lived in that time. He/she was a youth that was beginning and Vinicius gave me demonstrations of its generosity. At the same time I had a good time a lot with him because he/she was a fantastic, charismatic being, women's fence for all sides, and he/she had the capacity to call to their environment their "friends". With him I learned how to have enough patience with all that means to be known, to assist people.
It was really a wonderful time, of big memories...
How do you go at the present time to the Bossa Nova?
The Bossa Nova goes in good road because he/she doesn't die. It is a relating one for all; I don't know any Brazilian composer neither foreigner that he/she is not inspired by this source in some moment. The Bossa Nova has an incredible capacity to arrive to people, for its cadence, for the poetry form and of saying the things; it is very descriptive and that arrives without necessity of translating it.
How would it define María Creuza in first person?
Without false modesty, I can say that I am already outside of classifying me in something. I can say that I have a history that I no longer have anything to prove anybody, and that I can sing any song type.
I think that this moment is very positive for me because after so many years that I am singing what I am singing and that people follow me you/he/she is a very positive answer, of all that I achieved, of all that I sought.
I don't want them to classify me as "María Creuza only sings Bossa Nova", no, María Creuza sings.
